Fuelling area

This year, too, there will be a fuelling area within the race track. Only commercially available fuel cans holding up to 20 l each will be admitted. Such fuel cans must be left in the fuelling area on the evening before, independently and within a given time window. The fuelling area will be guarded at night. The cans will be transported back to the paddock by the organiser. On site, you will be told at what time exactly you should bring the cans. Only fuel cans (don’t forget to label them!) may be left in the fuelling area. No spare or accessory parts will be accepted. No third party will have access during the race.

Paddock

Due to the high number of participants, we unfortunately have to limit the number of service vehicles per participant for the time being. In the beginning, there will be one service vehicle admitted for motorcycle and quad drivers, for car and truck drivers no more than 2 service vehicles will be admitted. Any surplus support vehicle arriving may be parked in the parking area opposite the paddock. On Thursday evening, we will admit further service vehicles if there is still enough space in the paddock. When registering, you will receive a sticker which authorises your service vehicles to enter. This sticker also authorizes to enter the parking area which is free of charge (only for service vehicles) in the former site of Großgrimma. The sticker must not be transferred to any other vehicle during the event.

Time recording by Sport – Ident

All participants get a time recording memory stick (deposit 50.00 euros).  They must insert said stick on their own into the time recording devices at the check-in, at all stamp checkpoints, and at the check-out.  For fixing the stick, motorcyclists and quad drivers get an elastic band, and car or truck navigators get a key holder.  Upon passage of the finish line, each driver will get a print-out.

  Hello Baja-Saxonia Community,

Thanks to the close cooperation with the special purpose association, the showers of the Mondsee camping site will be made available for participants.  The required shower coins may be bought directly at the shower facilities.  Shower times will be published at the information point "Orgapunkt".  Due to our past experience, we kindly request you to park your car in the parking lot and not in front of the shower facilities.  We are guests and should behave as such.

Tue new catering company has been commissioned to provide all-around service and guarantees said service from the buffet breakfast (for around 5 to 6 euros), starting at 4 a.m., up to dinner or nightcap after midnight.  The catering tent will be much larger, in line with the number of participants.  We hope that this service will be greatly appreciated by the participants, service staff, and spectators/visitors.

P.S. One tip: Please strictly comply with all points of the regulations, especially with regard to the required technical equipment for the route and navigation.

General Information

This licence-free off-road event is intended for all amateurs and semi-professionals, who want to face the challenge of a fair competition for their vehicles and themselves after a long winter break for mechanical tinkering. The intention is a long weekend of fun, adventure and action, and the sporting challenge is comparable with other BAJA events. The BAJA SAXONIA is run on unsurfaced roads through an opencast mining landscape in the heart of central Germany. The driver and co-driver must give their all over 400 km of timed stages and should of course never forget the friendly relations with the other competitors. Everyone needs help at some time!

The BAJA SAXONIA is supported by the members of the 4x4 Club Leipzig, who have built up plenty of experience in the last 15 years, above-all through active participation in diverse rallies and are known for the holding of the German Off-road Championship in 4-hour racing.

The event can offer an interesting and challenging programme. It takes place near Leipzig. The event is a rally to overcome of two daily stages of different lengths, which are driven according to a road book, with the final finishing time deciding the winners and losers. According to the weather situation, some passages can be similar to a trial, although most parts can be driven quickly. The timed stages do not pose impossible challenges, but could show some drivers and their vehicles their limitations!

As part of this event, a round of the UEM Baja European Championship for motorcycles and quads will be run for the first time. This offers all amateurs the chance to measure themselves against leading European riders and meet them close-up.

Of course there will be a heated festival tent with appropriate entertainment and catering during the entire event. This year, there will also be a VIP area in the spectator area within the course. A limited number of VIP ticket are available for this.

Camp / Accommodation

The competitors stay in a camp near the small town of Hohenmölsen. The camp can be reached along a public road so that service vehicles can also reach this location without four-wheel drive. Each person is responsible for their own tent and personal hygiene, with public toilets being provided by the organisers. It should be pointed out that trucks over 7.5 t are forbidden to drive on Sundays and public holidays.
